Structural Inspection - Bridge

SAI is responsible for the NBIS inventory/inspection of 230 various steel and concrete bridge structures ranging from 28' to 3114' in length over Norfolk & Southern rail lines, waterways, roadways, and other railroads throughout Pennsylvania.

Physical Features: 
  • S.R. 0120 Bridge over the W. Branch of the Susquehanna River and N&S Railroad (Clinton County, PA) - 1,450'- prestressed concrete I-beam.
  • Bingaman Street Bridge over the Schuylkill River and N&S Railroad (Berks County, PA) - 1,476'-reinforced concrete open spandrel arch.
  • Freeport Bridge over the Allegheny River and N&S Railroad (Westmoreland County, PA) - 3,114'- steel deck truss.
Other Features: 
  • NBIS inspections and reports for 230 bridges.
  • Perform updated load rating analysis for bridges as conditions warrant.
  • Extensive coordination with Norfolk & Southern Rail Corporation, rigging contractors, and PennDOT.
  • Utilize computerized versions of bridge inspection form D450.
