SAI was responsible for the emergency preliminary engineering, final design, and construction consultation of a structure carrying S.R. 0949 over Clear Creek in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.

Physical Features: 
  • 68' simple-span galvanized steel-rolled beam bridge with integral abutments over Clear Creek.
  • 629' of roadway approach on a two-lane rural community collector with an ADT of 275.
  • Deck consists of two 11' lanes with 5' 3" shoulders for a deck area of 2,272 sq. ft.
Other Features: 
  • Unique geometry includes a 70 degree skew angle and a super elevation transition on the structure.
  • Substructure units consist of pile-supported integral abutments placed behind the existing abutments.
  • Stocked Trout Stream Designation required that no stream work be conducted between March 1st and June 15th.
  • BRAD utilized for part of the structure to reduce design time.
  • Aesthetic treatments include a decorative rock facade and painted railings to appear like aged metal.
  • Scour analysis, hydraulic design, and hydrologic studies.
  • Demolition plan.
  • Permit acquisition and agency coordination.
  • Erosion and sedimentation control plan.
  • Traffic maintained via detour.
