Bridge Rehabilitation and Replacement

SAI was responsible for the emergency preliminary and final design of a bridge over Keystone Lake that along with a causeway separates the recreational area of the lake from a wetland preservation area on the eastern side of Keystone State Park. This critical structure provides public access to both sides of Keystone Lake during the peak recreational season.

Physical Features: 
  • 50' single-span prestressed concrete spread box beam bridge over Keystone Lake.
  • Integral abutments on steel H-piles.
Other Features: 
  • Emergency declaration obtained by PennDOT to direct select SAI as the design firm.
  • Entire construction contract was paid for under Force Account Specifications as outlined in the Department's Publication 408.
  • Concurrent design and construction was closely coordinated with the contractor.
  • Re-use of District-owned steel H-piles from a previous project.
