Draftsperson III – We are looking for a motivated individual to join our Transportation Design Group as a member of the structure drafting team!
Responsibilities – The ideal candidate will:
- Generate CADD drawings from engineering design calculations and/or sketches with no supervision.
- Prepare contract documents, plans, and sketches utilizing Bentley MicroStation CADD software; Bentley InRoads and/or Open Bridge Modeler/Designer experience is a plus, but not necessary.
- Leverage their technical and communication talents to assist in the preparation of structure design computations and solutions under the supervision of a Work Group Leader or Project Engineer.
- Provide support as needed for workshare with other SAI offices from Pittsburgh office.
Qualifications:
- Technical school graduate.
- Minimum of five (5) years of CADD experience utilizing Bentley MicroStation in a structure design setting or equivalent.
- Knowledge of CADD practices and procedures for preparation of transportation structure plans (bridges, walls, signs, etc.).
- Skilled in using Bentley MicroStation format software.
- Experience in PennDOT/PTC plan presentation preferred but not required.
- Experience with Excel spreadsheets and Bluebeam/Adobe PDF review software.
- Skill in operating office equipment such as plotter, copy machine, and print machine.
- Ability to use computer software and other online resources.
- Ability to perform less complex structure engineering design tasks with supervision.
- Geometry, layout work, quantities, etc.
- Ability to communicate with coworkers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented setting.

Responsibilities – The ideal candidate will:
- Generate CADD drawings from engineering design calculations and/or sketches with no supervision.
- Prepare contract documents, plans, and sketches utilizing Bentley MicroStation CADD software; Bentley InRoads and/or Open Bridge Modeler/Designer experience is a plus, but not necessary.
- Perform checking procedures of plans drafted by others on the team.
- Mentor junior staff with new techniques, design situations, professional engagement.
- Leverage their technical and communication talents to prepare structure design computations and design solutions under the supervision of a Work Group Leader or Project Engineer; including but not limited to:
- Horizontal and vertical geometry calculations.
- Layout work with supervision from Project Engineer.
- Generate and check quantity calculations.
- Assist in the review of shop drawings during construction of projects designed by SAI.
- Provide support as needed for workshare with our other SAI offices from Pittsburgh office.
- Assist the CADD Manager related to workspaces, CAD environments, processes, and Bentley specific enhancements for the work groups.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree or other technical school graduate.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of CADD experience utilizing Bentley MicroStation in a structure design setting or equivalent.
- Experienced with general CADD practices and procedures for preparation of transportation structure plans (bridges, walls, signs, etc.).
- Skilled in using Bentley MicroStation format software.
- Experience in PennDOT/PTC plan presentation preferred.
- Proficient use of Excel spreadsheets and Bluebeam/Adobe PDF review software.
