On November 14, 2019, SAI staff attended the 8th Women’s Forum held at the Engineers Club in downtown Pittsburgh. What was unique about this year’s fall conference is that the panel was smaller than past panels, having three women, and represented diverse ages, employers, and corporate roles. The panel included: Vasti Amaro, Chief of Staff with the Port Authority of Allegheny County, Lisa Edmonds, Acting Director of Allegheny County M/W/DBE Department, and Monica O’Neil, Structural Engineer for HDR Engineering. PennDOT District 11 Executive, Cheryl Moon-Sirianni, moderated the conversation that focused on how each woman can elevate their careers by getting involved with professional society boards, and elevating work/life balance by knowing yourself and advocating for yourself.
After attending the Forum, Megan Graswick, voiced her desire to join WTS and surround herself with this positive sisterhood.
