SAI commemorates National Parks Day, August 25, which marks the date in 1916 when the National Parks System was created. And as SAI thinks about the importance of National Parks, we think about the importance of our own Pennsylvania state parks. Through PennDOT contracts, SAI has inspected DCNR bridges, including the one in the photo. A timber arch bridge with timber edge beams and rolled steel floorbeams, this bridge carries Trough Creek Drive over Trough Creek. Located in Trough Creek State Park, Todd Township, Pennsylvania, the bridge serves nearby campgrounds. As the summer draws to a close, let’s enjoy the beautiful state and national parks and the bridges that make them accessible.
