SAI Celebrates Black History Month – Aprille Ericsson – Winner of the Women in Science & Engineering Award

Aprille Ericsson – the first black woman to earn a PhD in engineering from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Aprille Ericsson designs spacecraft and instruments that contribute to our understanding of the Sun-Earth connection. Ericsson received her PhD in mechanical engineering from Howard University and her aeronautical engineering degree from MIT. In 1997, she won the Women in Science & Engineering Award for the best female engineer in the federal government. #innovation #research #blackhistory #blackhistorymonth #engineering #PhD
