SAI was responsible for the erection of the 196’ single span steel multi-girder bridge.
The physical features of this project include:
- 196′ single span steel multi-girder bridge
- The bridge was constructed in multiple phases to allow for a single lane of alternating traffic during construction
Other features of this project include:
- Utilized single tower near mid-span during girder erection due to long span
- Utilized crane on causeway accessed via a temporary bridge structure
- Additional cranes were placed behind abutments and girders were designed such that smaller cranes could pick end pieces until splices connected
- Once girder field splices were completed, girders were lowered off tower and attached to existing pier near mid span to provide lateral support for system stability and wind prior to the deck pour
- The pier attachment provided support during deck placement until the final phase where the two adjacent phases were connected
- Utilized crane on causeway accessed via a temporary bridge structure
