SAI was responsible for the revised Traffic Control Plan for the deck preservation of the SR 0079 bridges that traverses over the Conneaut Swamp. The revised plan consisted of two (2) phases of half-width construction and overnight/weekend detours of SR 0079 northbound and southbound.
The physical features of this project include:
- Both northbound and southbound bridges are 3,600′, 60-spans at 60’ pre-stress concrete composite box beams.
- The bridge decks consisted of two (2) 12-0’ travel lanes, 9’-6” right shoulder, and 5’-6” left shoulder for 316,800 sf of total deck area (out/out) for both bridges.
- Deck preservation included milling and hydrodemolition.
Other features of this project include:
- The revised plan eliminated the use of high speed interstate crossovers at each end of the project.
- The revised Traffic Control Plan consisted of two (2) construction phases with overnight/weekend detours of SR 0079 northbound and southbound.
- Phase 1 – utilized the existing bridge with half-width construction and one (1) lane of traffic in each direction. Overnight/weekend detours were implement for SR 0079 northbound and southbound when needed.
- Phase 2 – also utilized the existing bridge with half-width construction and one (1) lane of traffic in each direction. Overnight/weekend detours were implement for SR 0079 northbound and southbound when needed.
